XL-F24MINI-NFC Ultra-Thin Embedded Scanner: Applications and Technical Reference

📅 2026-10-19 🏭 Xinlong Tech Team ⏱ 5 min read

Self-service hardware keeps getting thinner, and the space left for a scan engine is often no larger than a business card. XL-F24MINI-NFC packs a 640 x 480 reading core into a 16 mm deep body with a 53.5 x 36 mm face and weighs under 15 g, so it drops straight into POS counters, pickup lockers and kiosk panels. NFC is optional, letting card reading share the same faceplate as code scanning.

XL-F24MINI-NFC: 53.5 x 36 mm face, 16 mm deep, mounted flush with the equipment panel

1. Why embedded beats bolt-on in these devices

Kiosks, lockers and payment terminals need a flat, dust-resistant panel that does not obstruct the hand. A bolt-on scanner takes counter space and is easy to knock off; an embedded unit makes the scan window part of the panel. EVA foam on top compresses against the panel to limit dust ingress, which matters when cabinets are built in volume.

2. Six typical applications

Payment terminals and payment boxes

Depth of field covers 12-200 mm for WeChat Pay codes and 40-65 mm for refund codes, so customers need not hunt for the sweet spot; motion tolerance of 80 cm/s and above captures a hand-held phone on the move.

E-commerce pickup and parcel lockers

Pickup codes and QR unlocks happen on small doors. A 16 mm body avoids a deep pocket inside the cabinet, and low-brightness screens without backlight still read.

Storage and luggage lockers

Malls, pools and stations use QR or membership codes to open compartments; a flush window will not catch on luggage and is easy to clean.

Self-service kiosks and queue terminals

Ticket machines and information points often leave only a narrow bezel. The 53.5 x 36 mm face fits it, and the 74 x 58 degree field of view removes the need for precise alignment.

Smart home and access panels

The optional NFC reader (ISO14443 TypeA/B and M1, 0-4 cm) accepts QR visitor passes and physical cards on one device, with decimal or hexadecimal output in either direction for existing controllers.

Vending machines and compact self-service devices

Vending and charging equipment have narrower panels; at under 15 g the module adds negligible load and mounts with four screws.

3. Reading performance

A 640 x 480 CMOS sensor runs at 30 fps with a 74 x 58 degree field of view, 5 mil for 1D and 10 mil for 2D, 25 percent minimum print contrast, and 360 degree rotation with plus or minus 60 degree tilt and skew under a 6500 K white LED. This covers payment codes, retail barcodes, locker pickup codes and screen codes at close range.

4. Interfaces, symbologies and optional NFC

Supply is 3.3 to 5 V DC (plus or minus 5 percent) at 140 mA at 5 V. Options are HID-KBW (default), HID-POS, USB virtual COM and TTL232; see the interface guide. The main connector is 6-pin at 1.0 mm pitch, with 6-pin and 12-pin secondaries at 0.5 mm.

Enabled by default: EAN13, EAN8, UPC-A, UPC-E0/E1, Code128, Code39, Code93, CodaBar, QR Code, PDF417 and DataMatrix. Interleaved 2 of 5, Code11, MSI and similar are off by default and can be enabled per project. The optional NFC reader supports ISO14443 TypeA/B and M1 at 0-4 cm, including sector and block reads.

5. Mechanical, environmental and integration notes

Dimensions are 53.5 x 36 x 16 mm at under 15 g in ABS with four 2.2 mm holes. Operating range is -20 to 60 degrees Celsius, storage -40 to 70, humidity 5 to 95 percent RH non-condensing; vibration is tested at 5-200 Hz, 10 Grms, three axes, 1.5 hours, with ESD protection of plus or minus 6 kV contact and 12 kV air.

Cut the opening to the 2D drawing and fix with four screws. Keep the window flush, free of obstruction and strong reflections, and route the flex cable from the rear with an adequate bend radius. Enable HID-POS or virtual COM for payment; specify NFC when cards must also be read.
